Sowjetisches Denkmal

On the eastern edge of Berlin, opposite the Treptower Park, is this memorial site. It is a cemetery for 5.000 Russian soldiers that died during the liberation of Berlin in 1945.

As usual for communism, the scale of this monument is not really modest. Halfway is a hill with two marble constructions that almost touch each other. At the end of the terrain is a huge statue. From the street side you can’t even notice that one of the biggest and most impressive war memorials of the city is hidden in the forest.
