Mauerwerk

A tip from my former neighborhood Moabit. Located on a perfectly ordinary residential street is Mauerwerk, a perfectly ordinary working-class pub. But without the unintentionally tacky 1980s interior you see so often in Berlin. No, at Mauerwerk the walls have been stripped so you can see the bricks again, and live music is played regularly (much to the disinterest of the regulars).

Funnily enough, the pub bills itself primarily as a cocktail bar, perhaps preparing for the influx of hip new residents that has been predicted for twenty years. Until then, we happily drink our beers and ridiculously cheap cocktails there!
