Garten der Welt
Marzahn sounds as if it were the end of the world, and geographically speaking that actually almost is the case. But the location at the edge of Berlin also offered its advantages: amongst others, there was plenty of room in the hills to construct the Garten der Welt (gardens of the world).
It is a collection of gardens from Korea, Japan, China, England and other places. That made it into an unlikely tourist attraction, especially for the slightly older people amongst us who love to have a stroll and like to sip a coffee whilst enjoying the cultivated nature. Great stop as well for everyone who wants to walk the Wuhletal hiking path.
The entire garden was renovated and expanded around 2019 for the IGA, the international garden exhibition. A cable car offers a direct connection to the metro for a small extra cost and travels over a nearby hill, where the viewing tower Wolkenhain (free to access) was constructed.
