Esschenbräu

The trend away from the big beer brands and towards brewing at home or in the own village or city is also happening in Berlin. The American craft beer brand Stone had its own massive brewery since 2016 in the utmost southern part of the city (now owned by Brewdog), Neukölln has its Rollberg, Wedding the Vagabund.

And of course the Esschenbräu, hidden in a basement and inner courtyard of a residential flat, but despite that is still attracting hordes of tourists in summer because of its beer garden. The beer is being brewed at the same location, but don’t expect experimental types of beers you might find in other locations in the city. You visit the Esschenbräu for its coziness, especially to be found in its basement.
